58
وَإِن مَّن قَرْيَةٍ إِلاَّ نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُوهَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُوهَا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا كَانَ ذَلِك فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورًا
there is not a town [community] but We shall destroy or sternly punish it before the Day of Judgement. That is recorded in the Book.

Commentary
(b) Just as the law of annihilation (fana) applies to all individuals, similarly it applies to nations and civilizations. No matter how stable, splendid and vibrant with life a city might be, it is going to come to an end one day. It might either be destroyed due to the sins and insolence of its inhabitants or it might survive till the time of Doomsday, when it shall be destroyed along with the rest of the world.
